Professor Ken “Shadow” Goodman is the founder of 52 VtK , 52 Violent Tactics & Knowledge, a modern, reality-based combative system built on precision, timing, adaptability, and real-world application. Rooted in lived experience rather than theory, 52 VtK is designed for today’s environment , unpredictable, fast, and unforgiving.

     With more than three decades immersed in street combat, tactical training, and martial development  including 24 years within the New York State prison system, Professor Shadow forged a method that is both disciplined and deeply practical. Out of that crucible emerged 52 VtK: a complete combative language that integrates striking, movement, close-quarter control, impact tools, and environmental awareness into one cohesive framework.

     At the core of the weapons curriculum is Seis Métodos, the official 52 VtK Edged Weapons platform,  a progressive, principle-driven system that teaches students how to recognize danger, avoid confrontation when possible, and, when necessary, respond with clarity, control, and decisiveness.

     Today, Professor Shadow is dedicated to passing on what he has learned to everyday people, not to create fighters, but to cultivate capable individuals who can protect themselves and those they love. His mission is empowerment through preparation: understanding that safety is not something you wait for, but something you build.

     Guided by his core belief , Professor Shadow continues to teach, mentor, and expand 52 VtK as a living system grounded in survival, discipline, and self-reliance.
